You grow up, often hiding your sexuality, and learn the signals about letting people know. But if you are a woman who suddenly decides to be a gay man, you’ve had none of that. Which is kind of funny. But if you do that with the wrong people in the wrong place – such as a park at night – your safety is really at risk.” Roberts says there is a wide cross-section of men in HGM, but they veer towards the over-40s.
